Safeguarding and the Role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

This in-depth course is specifically designed for responsible individuals and registered managers who hold key safeguarding roles in the workplace. As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you play a critical role in the protection and well-being of children, young people and adults at risk. This course will equip you with the advanced knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to effectively fulfil your safeguarding responsibilities.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Have a deep understanding of their role as a DSL and the associated responsibilities in safeguarding those at risk.

  • Be able to lead and manage safeguarding efforts within their organisation, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Possess advanced skills in recognising and responding to complex safeguarding concerns, including effective risk management.

  • Be equipped to train and support staff in safeguarding practices, fostering a culture of vigilance and protection.

COURSE DURATION

​

A minimum of 3 contact hours in the classroom, consisting of theoretical activities. 

​

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.

Further competence in the workplace must be assessed.

CERTIFICATION
Your trainer/assessor will be responsible for determining whether you pass or fail.

​

EXPIRATION 

Guidelines recommend that this qualification is refreshed annually. 

​

​NUMBERS

A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.
